"Do to others as you would like to be done to you, for that is the law and the prophets."
Jesus shows us the essence of the Ten Commandments , the essence of the Law . This is not simply about not doing evil.
Do not do to others what you would not want done to you.
For example, you will not kill, you will not engage in immoral behavior, you will not steal, you will not harbor immoral thoughts and desires. At the same time, this is a positive thing:
Do to others what you would like done to you.
For example, if I like being greeted, I greet others; if I like being helped in difficult times, I offer help. If I want my mistakes forgiven, I forgive others.
The Law of Christ goes beyond simply refraining from doing evil; it also requires doing good. Therefore, the Lord says, "Do to others what you would have them do to you, for this is the Law and the Prophets."
