Sermon – Feast of the Annunciation of Our Lady of Fatima – May 13, 2026

Today we commemorate Our Lady of Fatima. Our Lady, by choosing different people in each of her appearances, left a message for the world.

Our Lady of Fatima appeared to three children in Fatima, Portugal. Lucia was 10, Jacinta 7, and Francisco 9 years old. She first appeared on May 13th. She then continued to appear on the 13th of each month until October 13th.

When Mary first appeared, she asked, “Do you wish to offer yourselves to God, to endure all the suffering He sends upon you, to atone for the sins that displease Him, and to plead for the conversion of sinners?” Then she said, “You will have to suffer greatly, but God’s grace will comfort you.”

The three children had to suffer greatly to atone for the sins of the world. In one of the visions, Mary showed souls falling into hell like snowflakes. Mary was showing that many people were condemned.

Many people preferred to live in sin and condemn themselves to hell because they did not want to believe in Jesus and change their lives. In most of her appearances, Mary always said: prayer and atonement. They would need to pray a lot and atone a great deal for the salvation of the world.

And that's exactly what these three children did. They seized the opportunity to make small sacrifices. For example, it was a hot day and they were thirsty; but they decided not to drink the water and instead offer this sacrifice for the salvation of sinners.

Mary also said that there is a very important form of prayer that we should all use: the rosary prayer. Therefore, we should recite the rosary prayer every day. Satan hates Mary and the rosary prayer.

Jacinta and Francisco died in childhood. Lucia lived longer, entered a monastery, and dedicated her life to God.

In her final apparition, Mary performed a miracle in heaven. Approximately 70,000 people were present, and it was raining heavily. Suddenly, the rain stopped, the sun appeared, everyone dried off, and the sun began to dance in the sky. Numerous journalists were present to report on the miracle.

This was the miracle of the sun that the Virgin Mary promised to perform in the final vision to prove the visions were real.

Mary appeared to many people many times. Her message to us is that we must pray a lot and atone a great deal. Without prayer and atonement, it will be very difficult for us to be saved.

Let us learn to listen to and put into practice the wishes of the Virgin Mary. Let prayer always hold the most important place in our lives. Today, we especially ask for this grace from the Virgin Mary of Fatima.
