Sermon – True Happiness and Holy Bliss (Luke 6:20-26) – September 9, 2026

My dear brothers and sisters,
In today's Gospel, Jesus shows us the path to true happiness by saying, "Blessed are you." Jesus tells the poor, the hungry, the weeping, and those persecuted for His sake how fortunate they are.
The world may tell us that happiness lies in wealth, comfort, success, and the approval of others. But Jesus shows us a different path: True happiness lies in trusting in God and living in His love.
Jesus' words do not teach us that suffering is good. On the contrary, they remind us that those in distress are not forgotten by God. It is our duty to feed the hungry, to be there for those who cry, to help those in need, and to share our love.
Jesus also warns us against becoming overly attached to worldly possessions, because everything we have is temporary. What is lasting is the love of God.
Let's ask ourselves this question today:
Where does my true happiness lie? In the things the world gives me, or in God?
May our Lord grant us the ability to follow the path of Jesus, to be humble, to share, and to be compassionate towards those in need.
May we always find true happiness in God.
May the Virgin Mary help us to always connect our happiness to God and eternal life.
