The Bible often shows us that Jesus forbade everyone from knowing about the miracles he performed, as in the biblical passage we just heard.
Many followed Him, and Jesus healed them all. He warned them not to reveal who He was. This happened so that what had been spoken through the Prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:
«Behold, my servant whom I have chosen,
my beloved in whom my soul is well pleased.
I will put my Spirit on him.
He will proclaim justice to the nations.
He will not strive, nor shout;
neither will anyone hear his voice in the streets.
He won’t break a bruised reed.
He won’t quench a smoking flax,
until he leads justice to victory.
In his name, the nations will hope.»
He will not strive or shout; no one will hear His voice in the streets.
The Lord Jesus comes to save humanity, but not by the methods the world uses; for if we consider only a human, earthly savior, then he must appear powerful, destroy his enemies, and rule over them; according to such a view, humility and meekness are weaknesses.
But as the prophet Isaiah said, Christ does not shout, does not make his voice heard, and does not draw attention to himself; as we often see in the Gospel, Jesus withdraws and hides as soon as the possibility of him being the center of attention arises, because his mission is not to be seen or to show his power or might, but to be silent, to sacrifice, to suffer, and to die on the cross; for that is his true glory.
Jesus does not need people's admiration to save us; He came not to perform miracles, but to give His own life for us.
Therefore, we clearly see that the methods Jesus used were completely opposite to those of the world.
Because when it comes to achieving a specific goal in the world, there are no limits; the world and those who belong to it resort to lies, slander, contempt, and injustice...
The world seeks to destroy, eliminate, and humiliate its rivals; we can see this very clearly in the Pharisees' attempts to kill Jesus; all the accusations were false, everything was a great injustice.
But Jesus does not shout, does not answer, does not reveal himself; he simply remains silent and suffers in silence. He loves his enemies and prays for their forgiveness; he sacrifices himself for those who hate him; he is always forgiving and always merciful, even to those who betray him.
And we, who belong to Christ and not to the world, must remember that our methods should be those of Christ, not those of others.
We cannot claim to follow Jesus and then act in a way that is completely contrary to Him.
In the face of any injustice we may encounter, Jesus asks us to suffer silently like Him, to forgive our enemies, and to pray for them.
...
Let us ask the Blessed Virgin Mary for grace so that we may always belong to Jesus and not to the world.
