Sermon – Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord – 6 August 2026

Today we celebrate the mystery of the Incarnation:
God merges with human nature, that is, with body and soul. The Word becomes "body" and resembles us in every respect except sin.
Christ, just like us, experienced cold, heat, and wounds; he did everything a human being does, except he sinned.
Today Christ reveals his divinity; his appearance changes. His face shines like the sun, and his clothes become whiter than snow.
What is remarkable is not that divinity appears occasionally, but that Christ does not always appear this way; for divinity, united with human nature, always illuminates humanity.
This is glory; it is union with God.
The apostles tasted paradise beforehand; they saw God face to face. That is why Saint Peter exclaims:
Lord, how wonderful it is for us to be here! I will set up three tents: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
The joy was so great that Peter wished the Lord would stay there, and he didn't even think about setting up a tent for himself. To see God face to face: that is paradise.
What should we do to see God? The Father tells us:
This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.
So, obey His commands and follow His example.
Let us ask for this favor from the Blessed Virgin Mary.
